Our hearts are heavy once again as we announce the death of another one of our own, Officer Jennifer Diener.

For the second time in less than a year, we are mourning the loss of one of our officer Jennifer Diener.

Officer Jennifer Diener48-year-old Jennifer Diener died after she was critically injured in a car crash near the Village of Yorkville. Diener was considered a veteran officer, with plans to retire in the next two years. She was sworn in at the same time as Officer John Hetland, who was killed last summer.

Diener was an active member of the Racine Police Department for 24 years. She was an organ donor, one final gesture of giving back to the community she loved serving. Officer Diener’s service included, but was not limited to, the following areas of service: Crisis Intervention Team recruitment, team evidence technician, Accident Review Board member, mountain bike patrol officer, utility vehicle operator, and laser operator.
In addition to departmental commendations and other awards, Officer Diener received the department’s Award of Excellence in 2011.
